June 2025: Did you know that we offer five free UK virtual learning programmes covering everything from the fundamentals of Commercial Law to Dispute Resolution? You can also explore our Banking and Finance, ESG, Energy, Infrastructure, Project and Asset Finance job simulations.
Completing these programmes will really help you get to know our Firm and what we do before applying for our open days, first-year insight schemes, vacation schemes, direct training contract or solicitor apprenticeship opportunities. Here's a few reasons why you should sign up now…
1. You'll discover different areas of the law
Do you want to know what a disputes lawyer actually does or understand how a transactional lawyer closes big deals for global clients. Our virtual learning programmes will give you the chance to actually try out different areas of the law from a UK trainee or associate's point of view.
2. Find out what our lawyers actually do every day
All our virtual programmes are designed by our London partners and associates. They include typical trainee or associate tasks, realistic client deadlines and typical scenarios. Discover the differences between practices and see what you can expect to do on a day-to-day basis.
3. You can complete each programme in your own time
There's no deadline, so you can work through each task in your own time and to fit your schedule. You won't be graded but you will get a certificate of completion, which you can add to your LinkedIn profile and mention in your future applications.
4. Compare your work to model answers
You'll be doing tasks like creating board minutes, reviewing documents or drafting an IPO prospectus. When you're finished, you can review your version alongside a draft written by a White & Case lawyer; see where you have more to learn and where your work was on the right track. Want to start over or take a break before continuing? No problem, you can keep coming back when it suits you.
5. Build your industry knowledge and skills
How do global companies anticipate and deal with ESG requirements across multiple countries? What are the challenges around counterparty credit risk in infrastructure financing transactions? Completing our practice-specific programmes will give you a real insight into how our lawyers help clients navigate such issues.
6. Get to know our people
All our virtual learning programmes include video introductions from our London partners or associates. They share their enthusiasm for working at our Firm and provide tips on how to succeed in each task. Remember, you might meet these people again in your interview – or even join their team one day!
7. See how lawyers prioritize their time
As a White & Case lawyer, you'll manage deadlines and tasks for various stakeholders, such as multiple investors in an international company and senior lawyers from different White & Case offices and teams. Gain insight into negotiating and succeeding in this fast-paced yet rewarding work environment by completing our simulations – they're as close to the real experience as you can get.
8. Show recruiters that you're interested in the Firm
Our recruiters notice when candidates demonstrate their genuine interest in our Firm by investing their time in completing our virtual learning programmes. As well as making your application stand out, it also means that you'll have more to talk about during the application and interview process.
