Our Washington, DC office recently hosted a dinner for our first and second year associates to inaugurate the Firm’s participation in the 4th Annual CYOC First Year Academy, a program designed to provide lawyers of color with legal industry insights, careers advice, and networking opportunities.

Partner Serena Rwejuna and Counsel Charles Moore provided their own tips for success, while the dinner focused on fostering camaraderie and learning, and provided attendees the opportunity to establish connections within the Firm.

White & Case was proud to mark Native American History month by hosting a conversation with Justice Shawna Baker, the first two-spirit LGBTQ+ person and the third woman ever confirmed to the Cherokee Nation Supreme Court.

The conversation focused on the Cherokee Freedmen civil rights issue within the Cherokee, Creek, Choctaw, Chickasaw, and Seminole Nations—a poignant example of the complexities surrounding race, inequality, and marginalization in the United States.

The event kicked off with opening remarks by New York Associate Gabriella Bensur, followed by closing remarks from Houston Office Manager DeAnna Vaughan.

Members of our Tokyo office recently joined forces with KPMG to host a ground-breaking charity gala dinner in support of Shine On! Kids (SOK), a non-profit organization. Tailored for the private equity industry, the event attracted over 120 attendees and raised an impressive JPY18M (approximately USD120,000) to bolster SOK's facility dog program which is dedicated to providing support to seriously ill children in Japan.

Beyond underscoring our commitment to philanthropy, the event served as a platform to strengthen relationships with key clients in the private equity sector.

Our Asia-Pacific offices recently celebrated #PinkFriday in support of LGBTQ+ inclusion in the workplace.

This year, our APAC Spectrum Affinity Network marked the day by launching an APAC LGBTQ+ HeatMap, in collaboration with Deutsche Bank’s APAC Legal Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council and dbPride, which summarises the rights and restrictions of key issues for LGBTQ+ identifying people across the region. We also took this opportunity to host a discussion on the improvements we’ve seen in LGBTQ+ rights and explore why progress can look staggered.

A huge thanks to our guest speakers for their insights on the challenges and key issues faced by the LGBTQ+ community in Asia-Pacific.
