Global, inclusive, innovative: A Sydney associate's perspective.

“Learn from the best at the start of your career.”

Sydney-based associate Yushu Xie has been telling us about her experiences with the Firm so far.

“I get tasks assigned to me directly by the partners, and have opportunities to get feedback from them on my work, which really helped me to improve.”

Why did you decide on White & Case?

White & Case is a truly global law firm that has a lot of potential in Australia. It offers unparalleled involvement in multijurisdictional deals and high-profile matters, and equips lawyers with skills that are essential in a globalized market.

What was your first impression of the Firm?

It’s a friendly Firm where people are willing and ready to help each other. We work directly with the partners and get first-hand guidance from the most experienced lawyers.

Why is White & Case the best place to start your legal career?

It is really important to learn from the best at the start of your career. With talented people from top law firms in Australia, White & Case provides great mentoring and training, and has everything a new lawyer needs to excel in his or her career.

What do you think is most exciting about the White & Case experience in Australia?

It’s a relatively new Firm in Australia and has a lot of potential. With a focus on the infrastructure area, it has become the industry leader within a very short period and will continue to be in a position to provide first-class legal services to Australian and overseas clients.

What is the one thing that surprised you most when you joined the Firm?

I was surprised at how partners and senior associates are so approachable and are willing to guide me through any difficulties I may encounter in my work.

What type of work have you been involved in so far?

I’ve been involved in due diligence work, drafting of project documents and finance documents, legal research on a range of topics in different areas, and pro bono matters.

How is White & Case different from other law firms?

Unlike some international firms that are actually different law firms under the same name, White & Case offices in different countries are closely connected, and there are a lot of international collaborations across jurisdictions on cross-border deals, which delivers one global Firm to the client, and allows the clients and associates to tap into the resources in other jurisdictions very efficiently.

What is your most memorable moment with the Firm?

The Graduate Launch Event where the entire Firm welcomed us into the White & Case family. The kindness, support and friendship we felt were overwhelming.

What are you most looking forward to achieving at White & Case?

Professional excellence and an unparalleled social network.
